About this activity

This Taroudant day trip from Agadir takes you inland across the Souss plain to one of southern Morocco's most atmospheric walled towns, then on to the palm oasis village of Tiout. It is a relaxed way to see rural Morocco, with plenty of history, local life and scenery in a single day.

The day starts with hotel pickup in Agadir or Taghazout. Early on, there is a photo stop to see goats climbing argan trees, a sight you will only find in this part of Morocco.

In Taroudant, often nicknamed the "Grandmother of Marrakech," you explore the old red-mud ramparts and gates, then wander the souks. Look for spices, silver jewelry, leather goods, carpets and other handicrafts.

The trip then continues to Tiout. Here you have lunch at a hilltop kasbah restaurant overlooking the oasis, with tajine and couscous on the menu. Afterwards, take a guided walk through the palm groves and learn how the traditional irrigation system works. A donkey ride through the shade is available as an optional extra. You return to Agadir through the Souss Valley and its orange groves.
